Introduction of the College

Prime Minister Janonetri Sheikh Hasina, a supporter of democracy and the daughter of the Father of the Nation, served as an inspiration for the Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College as it began its journey in the academic year 1999–2000. The People’s Republic of Bangladesh’s Honourable Minister of Health was Sheikh Fazlul Karim Salim, MP. The principal of the Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College was Dr Md. Maniruzzaman Bhuiyan, while Sheikh Kabir Hossain served as the chairman of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society. A Governing Body made up of members from the sponsoring organisation, the University of Dhaka, and the Government of Bangladesh oversees Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital, a project of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS). The College follows the MBBS course curriculum established by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council and Dhaka University. The University of Dhaka administers professional exams and issues certificates of MBBS degrees, while the Government of Bangladesh governs the requirements for prospective students.
