History of the University
In 1920, the faculty of medical was formed and it was named the faculty of Nizhny Novgorod University. The academy became a separate and independent medical institution in May, 1930. In June, 1994 the academy attained the position of state academy in the country. In 1992, the Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy started admitting the foreign students from different countries. Since then more than 500+ students from Africa, Latin America, Malaysia, Tanzania, Syria, Kenya, Morocco, India and Sri-Lanka and Asia are admitted in medical courses at the university. Faculty of Medicine
The students who want to study medicine at the Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academywill have to undertake preliminary course for 1 year before starting the undergraduate program. The General Medicine course lasts for 6 years. In the first academic year of the MBBS course at the Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academyconsists of fundamental medical subjects like Biophysics, Organic Chemistry, Medical Biology, History of Medicine, General Chemistry and Human Anatomy. Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate should be aged more than 27 years as on September the 1st in the year aspirant has applied.
- The minimum marks scored by the student in secondary high school should be 50% in Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
- As per the MCI regulations, the candidate belonging to reserved category (SC, ST and OBC) should have scored 40% in Physics, Biology and Chemistry
- The candidate must also clear NEET exam.

Hostel Facility
Hostel is provided by the academy inside the academy campus for students outside the nation. It is mandatory to share the room with students of the institute. Each room is shared by 2-3 students.
