History of the University

In 1920, the faculty of medical was formed and it was named the faculty of Nizhny Novgorod University. The academy became a separate and independent medical institution in May, 1930. In June, 1994 the academy attained the position of state academy in the country. In 1992, the Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy started admitting the foreign students from different countries. Since then more than 500+ students from Africa, Latin America, Malaysia, Tanzania, Syria, Kenya, Morocco, India and Sri-Lanka and Asia are admitted in medical courses at the university. The International students are trained in dentistry, pharmacy and medicine.

The students who want to study medicine at the Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academywill have to undertake preliminary course for 1 year before starting the undergraduate program. The General Medicine course lasts for 6 years. In the first academic year of the MBBS course at the Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academyconsists of fundamental medical subjects like Biophysics, Organic Chemistry, Medical Biology, History of Medicine, General Chemistry and Human Anatomy. The clinical studies begin in the third year of the course. Paediatric faculty

Paediatric faculty includes the medical study of adults, infant and children. The Institute of Paediatric Research and Regional Paediatric Hospital are the two hospitals where students are taught Paediatric studies. The duration of the Course is 6 years.

Faculty of preventive medicine

Students are taught to prevent the disease despite of just curing it or treating symptoms. The students who study preventive medicine are graduated as Epidemiologists and Hygienists. The Duration of the course is 6 years.

The Two Terms of The Academic Year

Autumn Term starts in September-January. Spring Term starts in February-June.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The candidate should be aged more than 27 years as on September the 1st in the year aspirant has applied.
  • The minimum marks scored by the student in secondary high school should be 50% in Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
  • As per the MCI regulations, the candidate belonging to reserved category (SC, ST and OBC) should have scored 40% in Physics, Biology and Chemistry
  • The candidate must also clear NEET exam.

Medium of Course Instruction

Hostel Facility

Hostel is provided by the academy inside the academy campus for students outside the nation. It is mandatory to share the room with students of the institute. Each room is shared by 2-3 students. The sharing of the rooms depends upon the size of it. Students are restricted to go out of the hostel campus late night. If there is anythingimportant or urgent to be done then students need to attain a permission letter from the authorities to go out.

Rent an Apartment near University Campus

In Nizhny Novgorod, if a student rent a room and not the academy hostel the apartments they get are fully furnished and some electrical equipment like a Washing Machine, Fridge, TV and Microwave.
