In 1992, Tbilisi Medical Academy was founded by notable pediatric surgeon, Petre Shotadze who was also a Georgian physician.
In 1999, Tbilisi Medical Academy was renamed as “Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy”, following the demise of Dr. Shotadze. Since its establishment, TMA has grown up more than 1500 graduates who work successfully in leading Georgian and International Hospitals, Scientific Centres, and universities.

Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria to study MBBS at Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy is as follows:
- The candidate must be over 17 and below 25 years old on or before the date in which the admission is being taken.
- The candidate should be a high-school graduate or he/she must hold an equivalent degree with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as subjects.
- The applicant should have secured at least 60% aggregate in all the above-mentioned subjects in 10+2 and 40% if the applicant falls under the category SC/ST/OBC.
- The applicant must clear the NEET exam as it is mandatory for students coming from India.
- It is mandatory for the applicants to clear both IELTS and TOEFL exams.
Admission Process
Following is the admission procedure for applying to MBBS course at Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy:
- Step 1: Students should fill in the Application Form.
- Step 2: Then, he/she should send the filled-in Application together with the copies of the documents, necessary for the acquisition of the student’s status.
- Step 3: Once the applications are reviewed by the university, students need to deposit the fees into the university’s bank account.
- Step 4: Within 30 days, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia issues an accreditation letter to the applicants. The university receives a ministry order, and issues an invitation letter to the students.
- Step 5: After all the above procedure, the visa approval takes nearly 30 days.
- Step 6: Once students pay complete fees, the day and date of departure is finalised.
